SOUL – Film Festival

MOTO

Bharat, a cradle of ancient civilization, thrives on the essence of diversity in unity. From the mighty Himalayas to the plains of the Ganga, from the deserts of Rajasthan to the hills of the North East—every corner of this nation breathes a distinct rhythm of life, language, and belief. Yet, amidst these differences lies a common thread—a profound reverence for the land. Our diversities are not differences, but the inherent sense of unity within.

Guided by age-old traditions and spiritual consciousness, the people of Bharat have always recognized the earth, sky, sun, fire, air, water, animals, and plants as sacred. This deep-rooted respect for nature transcends social and cultural boundaries, shaping a moral compass where harmony and non-violence are held as supreme virtues.

In the rich and vibrant landscape of North East Bharat, this connection to the land takes on a deeply soulful dimension. Home to a multitude of diverse communities, each with distinct language, custom, and philosophy, the region reflects an intricate mosaic of human civilization. Yet, in all their rituals—be it before ploughing the land, during marriages, or while worshipping trees or hills-a singular truth emerges: the earth is sacred.

The SOUL– Stories of Unity, Land and Culture Docu-fiction film Festival is a celebration of this shared sentiment. It aims to archive and honor the diverse yet unifying traditions of land worship practiced by the hill and plain communities of Northeast Bharat. Through powerful storytelling in the form of docu-fiction, we strive to showcase the region’s cultural richness while emphasizing its contribution to national integration. SOUL is under the aegis of Seemanta Chetana Mancha Purvottar. It’s a socio-cultural, non-political organization dedicated to promoting safety, security, and development in the international border areas of Northeast Bharat. Rooted in patriotism and nationalism, we empower border communities through various initiatives.
